The Christianville Spirit: Let's Talk about Superstitions

The Christianville Spirit

The Spirit that Inspires The Soul

June 25th, 2025 – TCS # 904

Very Superstitious, My Readers! Okay, Christian, You will probably say with (an Uneasy Feeling), What is This Greeting about?! Relax, Relax! I don’t mean in a Sinister Way! Although, Yes, There are People who can mean it in a Sinister Way but, Believe Me Folks! I Don’t!

So, What is The Greeting about?

It is a Song called “Very Superstitious” that almost mocks about People are who Superstitious.

Okay, so What does That Mean?!  Okay, I will explain.

Some People are what is called “Superstitious”, meaning that They are Cautious about The Way that Certain Things are Done and The Way that Their Life runs. For Some, It is The Act of doing Something (or Not Doing Something) and/or Words and Phrases that People don’t want to Use!

For Some though, Being Superstitious can be a Bit Fearful and Yes, There are Some Fearful Superstitions; Some are Silly Superstitions (Serious to those who Believe), and Some Superstitions have Proven to True.

So, What are Some Superstitions that exist and/or Ones that You are Aware of! And, No, I will not Make Fun of Them but, I will explain them.

++ Superstitions

(I am aware of) ++

Friday The 13th: The Most Classic One! Basically One Bad Luck Day! It by Far The Most Believable for Those who Believe in It.

Breaking Glass or Breaking a Mirror: This One can be Believable and Not to be Messed with, Whether You believe it or not.

Black Cats: This One is, to Those who Believe It a Fearful One. Like Seriously! But, Personally, I think It’s a Bit a Silly Superstition (At Least in My Alleged Opinion). That and Alot of Actual Black Cats get Abused and/or Neglected, as well as Misjudged and Even Missed because of This. Am I a Cat Person? No But, Think about The Cats’ Feelings too, Ya Know!

(Italian Superstition) When Sweeping The Floor, Do Not Sweep near Your Feet: This is an International Superstition. Believe it or Not, I learned This One from a Hallmark Movie Recently. It basically states that When You are Sweeping, You can’t sweep near Your Feet, Otherwise No One will Fall in Love with You (sweep you off your feet). This One is an Easy One to Follow and One to Actually Believe.

(Greek Superstition) The Evil Eye!: Okay, We can’t about Superstitions without Talking about The Greek and Italian Superstitions, The Evil Eye! This can be a Fearful One if not Done Correctly! But, Basically, It is a Blue, White, and White Glass Eye that protects You from Envy of Others!

So, Now that We have talked about Superstitions, I am sure You are asking What Superstitions do I believe in?

Try Not to be Shocked, Okay? But, I only fully Believe in

 Three Superstitions! I realize that I sound like Hillary Duff in The Disney Channel Movie,

 “Cadet Kelly” “What could Possibly Go Wrong?!

 But, I’m Not Superstitious like Most People!

++ I don’t Believe in Many Superstitions

except Three! ++

Quiet (aka “The Q-Word): Oh Yes! The Biggest Superstition that I believe in. Quiet, What I Code-Name “The Q-Word" and No, I’m NOT talking about Conspiratorial Politics, Just to be Clear! “The Q-Word" or Quiet is Mostly used in The Food, Retail, and Medical Industry. By The Way, If You work in Aforementioned Industries, Please STOP READING NOW!

If You are ever in An ER or at a Restaurant 5 Minutes to Closing Time, Never say that It is Quiet because They will give you The “Your Dead to Me” Look because not 5 Minutes Later, A Large Party (Restaurant) comes in or

A Big Emergency comes in (In The ER).

Same Thing with Life, Never say that Your Life is Quiet because Next Thing You Know, A Family Member and/or Friend need Your Help, has an Emergency, etc. If You have to Use it, Use “Silent” or “Good Activity.

No Laundry on New Year’s Day: This One was Proven back in 2018 and I think in 2020 as well. My Mom nor I knew about This Superstition until I read about it Online and The Washer was Running. (2018) was The Family Emergency with Grandma Honey and (2020) of Course, was The Dreaded Coronavirus! Enough Said!

Hope v. Belief: I’m not actually Sure if This is a Superstition or not but, I’m Believing. You Know those Times where You are Hoping for Something, like That You’ll Meet Your Romantic Person; Get a Good Neighbour: Passing an Exam etc. And You say, “I Hope This Happens” and Usually, It doesn’t. Well, That’s Where You have to Believe that It is going to Happen. And, Yes. If You want Grandma to feel better from an Illness, You can say “I am Believing that Your Grandma will Get Better”. See? Much More Positive Sounding, Right?

You can still just Hope, if You want to. Just Use It as a Good Blanket Statement but, Belief in Your Heart! See What I did There?!

So, Yeah. Superstitions can be an Oh-So-Sensitive Topic for Some People and That is Okay, but At Least, in My Opinion, It should not be Something to be Afraid but, Maybe Mindful about when Believing, Following, and Talking about It.

All in All, Superstitions are What You make of Them, They can be Fearful or Sinister if You make them, Not that They are Intended to be Though!

Thanks For Reading The Christianville Spirit. Be Mindful when Believing in Superstitions!
