The Christianville Spirit: Valentine's Epic Freeze

It was Cold as Ice, My Readers! I do mean that! I will explain in a Minute. A Little Romantic, Bonjour is in Order. This Year, It seems I kind of skipped over Valentine’s Day in My Newsletter Schedule! Both Reasons weren’t really in My Control. The First Reason obviously is My Anxiety. It has been Very High and is Healing. But, Man, To Me, It felt like Not One Thing but a Bunch of Things hit me all at One Time. It felt like being Struck by Lightning over and over, which Of Course, caused My Nervous System to go Haywire. It made where Things that I used to enjoy like Playing in The Snow, Going on Drives (Which I love to do!), or Being Social caused My Anxiety to go Sky High. What was Harmless, in My Head turned Harmful. It was Hard to explain it. From The Negative Energy I sensed when Going up to Denver over Christmas (On a Good Note: My Brother decorated for Christmas brilliantly!); My Mom taking a Fall hitting the Side of Her Head when Letting The Dogs out of The Car; The “Supernatural Experience” I mentioned a Couple Newsletters ago; and, The Change in Human Condition that I have been talking about. A lot to Hit Me at One Time! Excuse me if I sound Negative, I am not trying to be. I am trying to be Real with You. The Second Reason, of course, has to do with Our Weather. So, The Epically Historic Storm. Epic in This Context, is not Something I use lightly! Now, Yes, We get Snow but, More Ice here at PTLS Foundation HQ of Plano, Texas. It might happen Once or Twice in a Winter. Maybe 3 Times in a Good Winter. But, Nothing to really create a National Historic News Story! Now, I laugh at Myself a bit because I usually talked about Historical Winter Storms, like Nor’Easters that happen Yearly in The Northeast US like New York, Philly, Boston, or Washington DC. Now, Usually when a Winter Storm hits here, It shuts Schools down, The Whole City freaks out at The Grocery Store. But, This Time is MUCH Different! Now, I personally thought that This Epic Winter Storm would be a Snow Event like “The Super Bowl Historic Storm” (Refer to That Newsletter) where It snowed a Foot of Snow here. I kind of thought that It would Snow around 12 to 14 Inches between The Two Part Snow Storm. Part One of The Snow hit Valentine’s Day where It snowed an Inch and then, Up to 4 Inches later on that Day. Part 2 of The Snow came and only brought a few Inches of Snow more. So, maybe 5 or 6 Inches of Snow. But, The Snow was the Expected part. The Part that Literally No One expected was The Cold. On Monday Morning after Valentine’s Day, The Wind Chill was like –15 (Negative 15) and Yes, You read that correctly! A Windchill of Negative 15 in Texas! Next Day, Tuesday The 16th, The Wind Chill was closer to –20 (Negative 20). Seriously! Unprecedented! One Morning, The Air Temperature at The Official Weather Station in The Dallas-Fort Worth Area, DFW Airport of –2 (Negative 2). With It that cold, Our Texas power grid that We often boast about, Failed Us. It could not handle All The Demand and The Cold literally freezing The Generators and The Wind Turbine Farms! It resulted in Rolling Blackouts in Many Cities including Our Own City of Plano, I thank God that Our Electricity survived. Of Course, Burst Pipes were also an Issue. Again, We survived because We dripped all the Pipes. All The Sinks and Showers were dripped. Yes, I realize though that There were Others like My Aunt Kathy, that weren’t so Lucky with The Power and/or Pipes. Aunt Kathy came over to spend a Few Nights because Her Power went out, It got to about 35 Degrees F in Her Apartment on Tuesday Morning! We brought her in and got her all Warmed up until Her Power came on. Honestly, Like I said, No One was Prepared for That Kind of Cold in Texas. It was like Once in a Decade or Century kind of Cold! Either Way, Us Texans came out Stronger and Now, are a little more Prepared in case It happens again. Not Very Soon! All in all, It taught Us Texans a Lesson. Don’t Mess with that Kind of Cold! And, When Someone says that 28 Degrees is Balmy, after That Kind of Cold, Yes it is!

Thanks for Reading The Christianville Spirit. Don’t Mess with Us Texans! We are Tough!
