The Christianville Spirit: My Family

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit that touches lives
February 27, 2008- TCS # 91
You know those scenes out of a 70’s movie or TV Show that shows the perfect family sitting at the dinner table all dressed up in nice clothes just for a family dinner and the Son, Dad, and Mom all are talking. The mom says “Honey, will you pass the potato’s” well, you get the idea. Well, I hate to say but, that’s not my family(Sound of Record Player stopping) on My Dad’s side anyway. In a family, there’s your Mom’s side and your Dad’s side of the family. In most families, hopefully the mom and dad are married with 2 or more or less children and they live together. Well, that’s not my family. My Family has My Mother, My Brother, and I living together. Well, My Brother has his own apartment now but, that’s not the bad part. See, My Mom and Dad are divorced. My Mom and I live up here in Plano and My Dad who is a Mega Schmuck lives down in San Antonio with his Girlfriend Laura and son Taylor. Well, now your probably thinking “Christian, Why is your dad a Mega Schmuck” Well, My Friend I’ll tell you. He doesn’t know what to do with me because I Have Special Needs and He doesn’t send money for us. Also, He doesn’t say nice things to me and it makes me feel bad. Whenever, he comes to town it scares me because I don’t know what he’ll say to me; in fact, one time while driving to Fridays to meet my brother for dinner he did 2 things that made me feel bad. First, I was looking at the road signs and the road. And, he says “Give me some eye contact!” I looked at him and turned back to road. Then, a couple minutes later he asked me this question “How would you feel if I kidnapped you and took you to San Antonio right now” and I said “I would be really upset and wish I had taken my cell phone with me” later on, at dinner he said that he was just joking. But, another thing is that his jokes aren’t that funny. Finally, here’s a stat I’ve done that really show how much I dislike him. I haven’t gone down to San Antonio in 3 Years. All in all, I hope that you don’t have a horrible dad like mine.

The Christianville Spirit: Respect Someone

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit that touches lives
February 20, 2007- TCS# 90

You know that song that came out of 70’s and it goes like this “R-E-S-P-E-C-T, Find out what it means to me…” Well, here’s a thought. How many people have RESPECT for each other today? Well, unfortunately they don’t; that might explain why America’s Divorce rate is so high, why some people fail at business, and why it’s so hard finding friends now a days. Well, your probably thinking either of 2 things “Christian, Why is respect so low” or “Dude, Why are you telling me this and why should I care” well, we don’t have much respect anymore because people are too busy hating each other. Honestly, I’d rather spend my precious daily energy respecting people and maybe a couple episodes of Random acts of Kindness that waste it hating someone. A lot of people waste their daily energy hating someone and guess what? They have enough energy to do anything else. I read something one day on a website called tesh.com about what you need to get to have the best relationship and love. It said that Respect and Trust are the first things you need. And, that’s behind Love and Affection. Most people would thing that Love and Affection are most important. But, you can hug and kiss somebody you love. And, not respect them. It’s just not right. But, the bottom line here is to respect someone in EVERY SITUATION. That covers Business, Relationships, Friendships, and more… So, if you haven’t already you should tell your spouse, friend, or co-worker that you respect them, No matter what even if you dislike them.

Thanks for the reading The Christianville Spirit. Give and show someone respect and trust.

The Christianville Spirit: The Snow Storm I will Never Forget

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit that touches Lives
February 15, 2008- TCS # 89
On This week of and before Valentines Day last year was too me, The Snow Storm I will NEVER Forget. Back when I wrote about it in The Christianville Spirit in February 2007 I called it “The Lake Effect Snow Machine of 2007”. Well, Today I think of that title and say “That’s definitely not a good title” Why? Is because
A. “The Lake Effect Snow Machine” happens every year
B. Syracuse and that part of Central New York is part of what is called the “Snowbelt”
So, what else can I call it? Well, WSYR Channel 9 of Syracuse called “winter in a Week”. In fact, this so called “winter in a Week” was so bad that they had a special on their news about. Now, back to the name, what do I call it? I think I’ll call it 2 names; “Winter in a Week of February 2007” and “ The Snow I will Never Forget”. For those of you who don’t know what happened, I’ll tell you. In Central New York around the Syracuse Area, there was a Lake Effect storm unlike any other. According to WYSR Channel 9’s website, Lake Effect Snow Storm’s only last a day or too and dump a lot of snow in one area. But, This Time was different. So; on February 4, 2007 it started to snow and it snowed until February 11. In the end, it snowed 100+ inches in Parish and Mexico, New York. And, of course the highest amount was around 140 Inches in North Redfield, NY. Now, you’d like to know what “Lake Effect Snow” I’m going to tell you. Well, first off, it occurs in The Great Lakes Region in the winter (Until the lake gets frozen over). When the lake water is warm, there’s an area of Low Pressure, the winds are blowing toward land, it makes it snow hard usually in one area. And, that’s how Lake Effect Snow works. If you would like to see pictures or video, go www.9wsyr.com and look for or search for “winter in a Week”. All in all, once you see the pictures you’ll see why I call it what I call it.

Thanks for reading The Christianville Spirit. This is the most snow I’ve ever seen!

The Christianville Spirit: Become a Leader

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit that touches lives

So, I was sitting on the couch this past Saturday with My Mom watching church on my computer and our pastor, Keith Craft was talking about Leadership and how you should become a leader. And, He’s right about that. So, here’s a sad fact about that, without a leader no one gets anywhere and they eventually fail. No wonder our country’s government is failing because we have NO LEADER! Sure, there’s President George Bush our president but, he’s not much of a leader. Also, there’s no leader in all the other issues we have in our nation, hence why our government is falling apart. Now, if you think I’m trying to persuade you to vote for someone in the ballot, No. But, if you want to get an idea on whom to vote for; don’t vote just on the issues they say they’re going fix. But, pick the candidate who you think will be the best LEADER. If you want to become a leader there are a lot of leadership schools which you could attend. All in all, we need to have a great leader for our country or we should become a leader.
Thanks for reading The Christianville Spirit. If follower needs a leader, maybe you should be their leader.

The Christianville Spirit: The State of The Metro Area Address(Special Edition)

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit that touches lives

This is a special edition of The Christianville Spirit because today was The State of The Metro Area Address. The address was a success and here is what they talked as well as the results. On Friday, February 1 at 4:00 PM, Christian Smith met with all the city counsels of all metro area cities to talk about changes to be done in the Christianville Area. The non-voted changes where tallied by each of the city counsels to determine whether they thought it was a good idea and supporting the idea. The first of them, changing Geography Loop to Geography Beltway had 90 % Yes and 10% No. here are the others.
Extend GCI’s Geography Pkwy. From the airport to G-Honey Frwy. 5 miles east of downtown, 87% Yes and 60% No
Discontinue Hunt County; City of Fort Izzy, Town of Hunt, and make Hunt County now part of Elizabeth County, 70% Yes and 69% no.
The voted things got a vote from both the people and all city counsels. The First one was the on-going between The City of Christianville and The Christmas District. For this one they tallied the votes from inside the district and outside the district. First, inside the district; many people inside The Christmas District voted yes and people outside the district had mixed votes. The City of Christianville city counsel also had mixed votes. However; Laura Sweetenburg, Mayor of Christianville had this to have the city counsel agree she says “Counsel and People of Christianville, The Christmas District is a special place to our great city. I believe this area shall remain a district because it is unfair to The Geography and Historic District. The Holiday is just as special to Christian as the history of his life and his favorite subject in school and what HE loves. The Christmas District does not have to stand out just to get his attention because he loves all of our great city and metro area” and Christian Smith says just about the same thing and say It shall remain a district. There was going to be another issue in the ballot in this address but, however Christian and the city counsels said not vote on it yet. According to future plan, they will be building a parkway that runs through The Christmas District. However, that is not set to happen until well after “The One” arrives. The final voted issue on the ballot was Canceling Great North Pkwy. From Geography Loop to Christmas Frwy. Most of the people who voted Yes on that lived in or around The New England Cities. The city counsels of the metro area say that won’t happen because they say its part of a future plan to be extended well after “The One” arrives. This has been The State of The Metro Area Address.

The Christianville Spirit: The State of The Metro Area Address

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit that touches lives

Ok, Christianville Metro Area. There have been many emails and comments coming into The Christianville Spirit, Area TV and Radio Stations about wanting to make The Christianville Area better and more new. One person emailed an area TV Station called FOX Christianville News stating this “Dear FOX Christianville, My name is Steve and I have a comment. I’ve been Commuting on Geography Loop for 6 Years and The name “Geography Loop” is getting to be a boring name for a precious road like this. Please think of maybe changing it to Geography Beltway or maybe Geography Perimeter instead. Thanks, Steve.” We all know, our great Metro Area is a wonderful to live and we have everything we would want. But, the thing is some of these people are right making just a little change in our metro area because no one likes to stand still for a long time. In that case, Christian Smith has made a meeting with all the cities of the area’s City Counsel and the people of The Metro Area on Friday, February 1st. He is calling this meeting “The State of the Metro Area Address”. So, here are some of the changes that will happen and then, changes that can be voted on. The first change is about what Steve called “Our precious road”, Geography Loop. Christian has decided to change its name to Geography Beltway because he says it is a boring name and it’s been the name for a long time. The second change is will be to extent the southern half of GCI’s Geography Pkwy. To G-Honey Freeway 5 Miles east of Downtown Christianville. The final unvoted change will be to discontinue the City of Fort Izzy, all of Hunt County (which is between Izzyville and Alex County) and the Town of Hunt, in Hunt County.
Now for Changes that can be Voted on. The first one has been on on-going battle between the Christmas District and The City of Christianville. The Christmas District since 2006 has wanted not to be a district of The City of Christianville but, it wants to be its own city. They say that if it were to become a city it would be named Christmasbury. Also, if they became there own city, The Geography District would become a city as well just so it’s fair. The Historic District will however remain a District. The final voted change will be to cancel Great North Pkwy. From Geography Loop (soon to be Geo. Bltwy.) to Christmas Frwy. That is all the changes are going to mentioned in the meeting. All in all, Christianville will be a better city that it already is.

The Christianville Spirit: The Georgia Roadgeek

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit that touches lives

The other day I was on my computer doing cyber traveling and researching things in Atlanta, GA. I looked at everything from area TV stations like Peachtree TV (which is stemmed from Turner Broadcasting) and WSB-TV to You Tube Videos of driving in Atlanta. And, along with watching You Tube Videos of that I came across a person that calls himself “The Georgia Road geek”. He has a video series on his website and on You Tube called “ROADGEEK-CAM!!” and what it is, is a video of the road and signs from a video camera on his dashboard. And, he talks about the signs and where he is. Not only does he do videos but, he also has a Radio Show on his blog site. I thought he is a really cool and interesting guy. If you would like see his video series or listen to his Radio Show, Go to www.georgiaroadgeek.com. All in all, The Georgia Road Geek is an awesome guy.

The Christianville Spirit: Cherishing Your Life

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit that touches lives

You know what’s sad? These days, People take advantage of the things that they have. They think what they have will never go away. But, the truth is it does. Here are a couple of questions to see how grateful you are. If a Family Member or Friend died tomorrow, what would you feel? And what was the most recent and last thing you said to the person? Were you in a fight? Cuss at them? Tell them you love them? See, I guess it’s a trend and I’m not talking Clothing Trends. The Trend is in the last moment at the funeral where you actually TELL THEM that you love them or they were greatest family member or friend to walk the earth. And, then there’s a trend to when YOUR on your death bed and saying like “Why now, I didn’t do all the things I did in my life.” now, I bet you thinking or already asking me, “Christian, How should we end these trends?” well, I’m going to tell you. For Trend #1, tell your family member that you love them VERY MUCH and that you would be DEVASTATED if anything happened to them. Now, about Friends you can tell them you love them; maybe not like you love your family. But, like your secondary Brother or Sister. Trend # 2 is harder that it looks. This one actually requires work and thought. It starts with Questions; like what do you want out of your life? What things (which must be important things) do you want to accomplish before you pass? And, course the life-ending question which should be moved to earlier in life and that is “What did you do with your life? Did you accomplish what you wanted to do? The all in all point here is to cherish your life, family members, friends, above all the thing you have!

The Christianville Spirit: My Brother Moves Out

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit that touches lives

This past Saturday, My Little Brother who is 19 Years Old decided to move out to a new apartment. He has decided that he doesn’t want to live at home anymore so, he moved out. The night that he moved out My Mom and I brought him some food for dinner; And, I got to see his apartment which did make me feel a little better because I knew where it was and what it looked like; His Apartment looks pretty good. A good thing is that, he’s not living alone in his own apartment. He’s living with his friend; Zack which is help when it’s comes to paying rent and stuff.
All in all, I’m going to miss him being here at home.

The Christianville Spirit: Happy New Year 2008

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit that touches Lives

Hi everyone and Welcome Back to another exciting year of touching articles and readings of The Christianville Spirit. First off, Happy New Year and Welcome to 2008; This Year will quite an awesome year for everyone. So, to kick off 2008; I’m going to write about something I saw on a TV Show called “Wife Swap”. One family, where they say Popular People rule and the other family where feminist woman rule. So, the feminist family; that’s fine; But, I wasn’t ok about the popular family. You see, they have a 16 Year Old Daughter named Alicia who is a pageant queen and her parents do everything for her. And, even do her homework. Also, her parents think Popular People Rule the World and that non-popular won’t get anywhere, you have to have “Sparkle” as they call it. So, here’s a question. What is Popularity and why in the world is it soo Important?!? Popularity in my eyes is just a label to bully and push people around and a way to stand higher than the average person. Parents, if you’re reading this. Popularity was not as big when you went to High School. But, today in public school it’s pretty big. Popular People these days look at other people who aren’t popular from the outside and think of them as nerds or bookworms. So, here’s my look at Popularity. Sometimes, it’s good to be Popular to the point of at least people knowing who you are. But, you want to show people who you truly are, not the fake you. And, that’s where the not-so-good popular comes in. they show people the fake side of themselves because they’re afraid that if they show the real them, no one will want to get to know them. But, the secret of it that people don’t get is that some of us might not be popular to the other kids or adults. But, we are Popular in our own special way and in our circle of friends. So, the point of this is not to let people like Alicia or her families intimidate you because you are popular and special in your own way.
Thanks for Reading The Christianville Spirit. Have a Happy AWESOME New Year in 2008!

The Christianville Spirit: Christian's Year in Review 2007

The Christianville SpiritThe Spirit of Christianville

OK. Christianville and Everyone, You know what time it is. It’s getting close to New Year’s Eve, Watching the ball drop, and The New Year of 2008 to come. BUT, WAIT! What about memories of 2007. Well, many people would say “Forget 2007, I want to push forward to 2008!” sure, that’s ok. But, before we watch the ball drop and party like no tomorrow, let’s go back over The Year 2007 in my life before I hit 2008. Ladies and Gentlemen, the Last issue of The Christianville Spirit of 2007; since this is a year in review let’s start from January. So, here we go. January 8, 2007: The first day of 2nd Semester of my Senior Year at Plano Senior High School. I was really excited now. Since Graduation was only 5 Months away and I couldn’t wait until Graduation. Later on in January, My Brother and I got our Graduation caps and gowns. To me, that meant we were only a short time away from Graduation later in May. On February 11, 2007 was the end of a weather event that in my mind will top all the weather events of 2007. I called it “The Lake Effect Snow Machine of 2007” What makes this event stand out from any other Lake Effect storm and blizzard was the amount of snow and the length of it that makes it stand out in 2007. This storm hit Central New York State near the Syracuse area; it happened for an entire week and in the end dumped in an area of 95-128 Inches of Snow, Causing huge mountains of Snow. This storm amazed me because I’ve never seen pictures of that much snow before. Also, later on in winter of 2006-2007 the low temperature in International Falls, Minnesota was Negative 50{-50}. In March of 2007 was The Christianville Spirit’s biggest and first reaction to the article called “The Christianville Spirit: Julie Smith Edition” and that started writing about all of my family and friends. And, I even wrote a newsletter about myself. That one got some reaction and some amazement. In Early March (the 7th or 8th),  my Special Needs was named. It was named after two doctors at the Baylor College of Medicine it is called Potocki-Lupski Syndrome. I was so excited when My Mom told me while driving home from school. May, though was an awesome month because it was the month of Graduation; the finale of 12 Years of School. After a long dry spell the clouds opened up and it rained all May long, enough to cause many area lakes to flood. Then, the day finally came, Graduation Day on early Tuesday Morning on May 29, 2007. A lot of family from both My Mom’s and My Dad’s side came to town to see us and finally I walked across the stage and got my diploma ending my High School Career and 12 Years of school, K-12. In June, we took our annual trip down to Gulf Shores, AL from our beach trip and that was a lot of fun. It was nice to see family and swim in the Gulf of Mexico.
July was a very sad month because on the weekend of the 4th of July, My Brother’s Friend’s Dad and Brother died while jumping off a cliff at Lake Texoma. In August, I turned 20 Years Old and also went on the annual Rangers Game Trip with the people from my work at the Frisco Roughriders. In September, My Brother started College and I felt left out because everyone was going to college and I wasn’t going to go to college because the classes were too hard for me. On September 16, 2007 My Mom took me to a new church called Celebration Covenant Church and it turned out to be an awesome church. When you walked into the worship center it felt like walking into rock concert. On September 19, 2007 I visited Traffic.com and met John McCarty. Then, I got to see the studio where they do the Traffic Reports for the Dallas Area. Also John McCarty offered to let me go up in one of the traffic helicopter. On October 3, 2007, My Mom and I went up in the traffic helicopter like John McCarty promised. And, that was like a ride of a lifetime because My Mom or I had never ridden in a helicopter before. On October 8, I decided to put The Christianville Spirit online on a site called blogger.com. Just in case, you’ve forgotten where it is, it’s at www.thechristianvillespirit.blogspot.com on November 1-2, 2007 My Mom and I drove down to Houston for a conference where a former fashion photographer named Rick had his exhibit at the Texas Children’s Hospital. And, My Mom and I got to sit on a panel at the Baylor College of Medicine discussing Special Needs. After that, he took pictures of me and other kids with my special needs. On November 16-20 was the 3rd annual Christian’s Best Friends Festival where I have days and events that honor friends. For Thanksgiving, My Mom and I drove to Atlanta, GA to visit family. And, finally in December; the final month of 2007 comes The Holiday Season. On Christmas Day, I called Popi (My Grandpa) to hank him for the present he gave to me and after the thank yous and your welcomes he told me that he put my holiday newsletter on his tree for all to see. And, Finally I wrap up my 2007 year in review with one of the best Christmas Presents I’ve ever gotten. My Mom got me a Street Sign she got from a Road Sign Store that said “Christian Pkwy.”(A famous street in Christianville) and a shirt that advertises my newsletter; All in all, 2007 has been a pretty good year for me. But, I believe 2008 will an even greater year.
(For the last time in 2007)
Thanks for reading The Christianville Spirit. I hope you had a good 2007 and I’ll see you back here in 2008!

The Christianville Spirit: My Love for The Holiday Season

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit of Christianville

As everyone knows what time of year it is, it is The Holiday Season. Which of course covers Thanksgiving, Hanukah, Kwanza, Christmas, and New Years? But, it’s different for many people. Well, at least the Christmas side (Hanukah and Kwanza are another story). People react to The Holiday Season in different ways. Some dread it, some hate it, and some love it like no other. When you mention Christmas to someone, they would likely tell you about presents, Santa Claus, and Jesus’ birth. I know many people dread Christmas because malls/shopping, spending time with in-laws/family, and of course the favorite, brought to you by a song “The 12 Pains of Christmas.” In the song it mentions 5 MONTHS OF BILLS. Why? Well, because people have a mountain of Christmas Presents under the tree. Me, I absolutely love Christmas and not because of presents or Santa Claus. But, because of Christmas Lights, songs, and just the happiness of people during this time: Like I’ve said many times before, I feel what other people are feeling. And, I know a lot of people are happy during The Holiday Season. According to My Mom, I never got excited about opening presents when I was a kid. She says I got more excited watching people opening their presents. Now, that’s not to say I don’t want anything for Christmas but, maybe I’d want just a few things. Another reason why I Love Christmas is the pretty Christmas Lights and Christmas Music. The Christmas Lights are even cooler now-a-days because the lights of many houses are in sync with music on a Local Radio Station and they are computer generated. I like it looks awesome that the lights match up with the music and it makes you follow the beat. I really like singing along with Christmas Songs I know. I also enjoy the fact Christmas is in winter and the weather of snow is awesome. I dream that one day I will spend Christmas or live up in Maine to see a White Christmas. Because I have never seen a White Christmas before; Also I love the Christmas Stories that they have at my church because how they setup the stage is really awesome and unique. All in all, I love Christmas and The Holidays more than any other time of the year.

Thanks for reading The Christianville Spirit. The Holidays are the most wonderful time of the year!

The Christianville Spirit: Thanksgiving in Atlanta

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit of Christianville

This Past Thanksgiving My Mom and I drove to Atlanta to visit some of The Smith Family. And, it was a lot of fun. We spent a lot of time with family which was good. My Brother, Michael didn’t come because he had to work. There were many cool parts but, one of them was something My Uncle Bruce has and did. Over the past several months he has been working hard at getting his Pilot’s License and a month or two ago he got it. So, one day he took My Cousin Gram and me up in his little Cessna Plane that the Flight School provided. So, we flew over a mountain that was called Stone Mountain and over Lake Lanier to see how dry it was. And, it was pretty dry, In fact I saw a whole boat ramp dried up and I’ve never seen a lake so dry that a whole boat ramp wasn’t covered in water. Another thing that was really cool was also was we saw the beautiful fall foliage. I got to wake up to it every morning in my Grandma Honey’s House; there were many colors like Orange, Red, and Yellow. Before we left, we had a wonderful opportunity to meet The Pulley Family which has a little girl named Ava that has the same special needs as I do and we met them at My Grandma Honey’s House, I was very nice meeting them. We hope to see them again and meet other families as well. All in all, being in Atlanta was a lot of fun.
Thanks for Reading The Christianville Spirit. Happy Late Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays!

The Christianville Spirit: Christian's Best Friends' Festival 2007

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit of Christianville
In my made up City Of Christianville from now until the 20th of November is what is called Christians’ Best Friends Festival. The Best Friends Festival is a couple in which I honor certain friends with days and events on those days pertaining to that friend. Most of The Best Friends’ Festival in Downtown Christianville on a street called Friends St. (except for one day which is Brooke Day, on Nov. 17 in a city north of Christianville called Brooke.) On the first day of The Best Friends’ Festival which is called Michael Day the festival kicks off with The City of Christianville Band and introducing of the US, Tennessee, and City of Christianville Flag. After The National Anthem is The Presentation of Friends (New and Old) that I had made this year; This Year in particular in 2007 was special because they introduced the doctors for whom My Special Needs was named after, Dr. Potocki and Dr. Lupski. When they were introduced everyone clapped and cheered. One person in the crowd who the broadcaster for one of Christianville’s radio station, 97.9 KMKI heard a mother named Kelly who lives The History District of Christianville says “Dr. Potocki and Dr. Lupski, God Bless You!!” Tomorrow will be a day called Brooke Day in The City of Brooke and on that day is a fair called The Christian Smith and Brooke H. Fair. On Meredith Day which is on Nov. 18 is in Downtown Christianville and it’s about the same fair style only it’s on Friends St. On Whitney Day which is on Nov. 19 and on that day they close off all the streets of Downtown Christianville for people to walk around and see the streets. On the final day named Steven Day which is named for Christianville Best Friend Steven V. has a Tigger Parade to end the festival because Steven really loves Tigger. Also, on that day is a made-up holiday called Steven Day for the same best friend. All in all, The Best Friends’ Festival is whole lot of fun!
Thanks for The Christianville Spirit. Now, loyalty towards Friends

The Christianville Spirit: The Possible Chance

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit of Christianville
What I’m about to tell you is probably not going to surprise you since we knew something like it would come. My Aunt Kathy’s client in her and my mom’s massage business, asked her about how I was doing and it turns out that Kathy’s client actually knows a reporter on Channel 8(which is the local ABC Station here in Dallas). So, the other day My Mom told me that Kathy’s in going to talk to a reporter named Shelly Slater and see if they wants to do a story on what happened with us in Houston. So, in other words, We COULD be on TV. My Mom and I will update you if anything happens.

Thanks for Reading The Christianville Spirit. I believe we are very blessed.

The Christianville Spirit: The 2 Days of Life Changing(Day 2)

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit of Christianville
How exciting! And, this is was only The FIRST Day. Now, it’s time for the 2nd day. This one was on Friday, November 2, 2007. The first part of the day was The Presentation of Rick’s Photography at The Baylor College of Medicine and He calls his photography “Positive Exposure“. If you would like more information check out www.positiveexposure.org. It will show you how beautiful, as he says Special Needs kids and adults are. Seeing all the pictures of those kids made me realize that I am not as severe as some the other kids and adults are. After the presentation, Dr. Potocki announced that we were going to have a panel and invited people to stay to ask questions or just watch the panel. When, the panel started I was unsure if I wanted to go up there because I had never done a panel before and I thought we would be standing in front of a Podium and I was kind of nervous and then, I got the nerve to go up there and be a part of it. How we spoke was by a small microphone that we passed around. Well, for each question or discussion I got to voice my opinion. They did talk about something I specialized in and that was how I see people with Special Needs and I told them” I see in the inside not the outside” and I decided to ask the audience who saw people on the inside and I saw a couple hands and after that sympathized with the people that see the same as I do. One person asked about testing of Genetics before their children are born and I said that It was the parents decision whether they wanted it or not. After the panel, they told The Medical Students and Doctors that if they wanted to talk to one of us that they could. And, Guess What? SEVERAL Students came to talk to me and even ask me questions. Many of them where like “You were such an Inspiration to me” and according to My Mom .again, I made people cry because my inspiration was so good Dr. Potocki later on told My Mom and me that we were inspiring to a lot of people and that so many people want to meet us. My Mom was surprised that The Medical Students even came up and talked to me. The Presentation and Panel were BY FAR the biggest change in our life. My Mom realized during the Presentation that she was meant to be raising awareness about it. Rick, the Photographer told us that He did the photography but, didn’t have anyone to TEACH. And THAT was My Mom does best. So, I believe she is meant to teach people about My Special Needs and Special Needs in general. After that, was the photo shoot and He didn’t just take 3 or 4 Pictures of me. He took several pictures of me and other kids as well. Later, near the end of it all we thought of him as the Ty Pennington of Special Photography. (By the way, Ty Pennington is the exciting host ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover) So, that My Friends was the past 2 days. Like I told Dr. Potocki, “It’s amazing how your life can change in 2 Days”. All in all, It’s was awesome.

The Christianville Spirit: The 2 Days of Life Changing(Day 1)

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit of Christianville

Readers of the Real World and The Christianville Metro Area, Nothing will prepare you for what I am about to tell you happened to me over 2 DAYS of Thursday and Friday, November 1&2, 2007. Now, I do assure you this is a very awesome thing. What: SOMETHING to do with Potocki-Lubski Syndrome (PTLS) which is what special needs I have When: already said. And, finally, where: Houston, Texas. So, here’s what happened that was so great. It started a couple weeks ago when Dr. Potocki emailed My Mom and said that there was going to be a convention in Houston on the first of November and she was going to be on a panel. When we pulled out of our neighborhood I told my mom “Mom, This trip may change our lives” and she replied with “This trip is going change our lives some way, I don’t know exactly how high of degree” and I said that only because we were meeting with someone from The New York Times I knew what happened to people got their story in The New York Times. Well, anyway when we got down there we met with Diane who was helping organize The Reception for the photographer who going to be taking pictures to be taking pictures of me and other people with my Special Needs. See, this guy named Rick from New York who was a Fashion Photographer one day decided to instead photograph people with Special Needs and he takes pictures of people ranging from Albino to Chromosome 18. Anyway, at the reception My Inspiration made Dr. Potocki cry because I told her something I learned from Church about changes in Seasons and how god takes us through Seasons and I told her, “Dr. Potocki, Today you started a new season”. After the reception, My Mom and I went to dinner with a lady named Amy from The New York Times. We went to this really good Modern American restaurant and the food I had was really good and Amy amazed us because she was looking at us while her fingers where typing on the computer. And, she talked and asked to us about a lot of things and it was good to talk to her about My Special Needs and life with it. And, that was only the first day…..

The Christianville Spirit: How People look at Me

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit of Christianville

Normally, In My Newsletters I talk about I view Other People and The things I love and all that good stuff. But, I rarely talk about how other people look at and see me. Knowing that I have Special Needs I know and have a feeling about how people see me. People knowing I Have Special Needs, some people see it as one special person who can do whatever his or her heart wants. Then, there are people who feel uncomfortable around them and think that they can’t do anything and they’re not smart. Well, the truth is Special Needs People are smarter then you think. In Fact, a lot of people have trouble showing their smart because they people will make fun of them or not believe them because they have Special Needs. Well, I’m here to tell you that just because people have Special Needs doesn’t mean their not smart. When it comes to Jobs; sadly, a lot of people don’t hire people with Special Needs because they think they are going to be high-maintenance or not do the job the way THEY want. Special Needs People can do the job just as good as Normal People. The only difference is we need extra supervision to make sure we are doing the job right, the way you might want. For me, I don’t really let people judging me bother me. I am aware of it. But, it doesn’t bother me. All in all, I believe Special Needs can do whatever they’re good at.
Thanks for reading The Christianville Spirit. Every Special Needs person is special in their talents and smarts.

The Christianville Spirit: C. Metro Helper Section

The Christianville Spirit

Today, instead of telling people about my life. I am to give people advice because I'm very smart about giving people advice because i feel like i'm in their shoes. So, the Christianville Metro Advice Section.
Today's discussion is about People who don't feel at their peak.
Why do people not feel at their peak? Well, their are many reasons why?
Maybe because they don't go "The 2nd Mile". Maybe beause they're doing something their not meant to be doing. or maybe your just not at your peak it's too hard to get there and be as rich as Paris Hilton or Bill Gates. So, what to do you do. well, first off if your not at your peak work wise then, think about what your meant to be doing. now, who or what you should listen to more likely YOUR HEART then, anything. Because Your Heart knows whats good for you. Not as much Your Conscious. Now, reaching your peak in getting somewhere You just have to NOT WORRY ABOUT TIME IT TAKES. It's best to take it slowly and step by step. after all, You can't a big family meal in one siting. you have to eat it in helpings. So, get to your goal in helpings NOT THE WHOLE MEAL. The Final Segment for Today is for Parents. Do you feel like Your Child is a Failure because of You? Well, sadly it's partly true becuase your the mother or father of the family so, what you reflects on Your Kids. BUT, it's entirely you. it's also Your Child as well. why? Because it was YOUR CHILD'S decision on what He or She wants to do. So, that's my advice for now.
Thanks for reading The Christianville Spirit. I hope this advice helped

The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit of Christianville
Well, Everyone I’m headed for the 3rd opportunity in My Opportunity Streak. So, This Friday I get to go to the Dallas Area Radio Station, 99.5 The Wolf to go to see their Traffic Reporter, Justin Frazell. Actually, emailing him was how all these opportunities got started. And, again how the opportunity begun from My Mom emailing him; Then, led to meeting John McCarty, Ben Martin, and going up in a Helicopter Ride. Believe it or not I have not met Justin Frazell and that is why I’m going to the Radio Station on Friday. I believe that it will be very awesome.

Thanks for reading The Christianville Spirit. If you set your mind to it, you will reach your dreams!
