The Christianville Spirit
The Spirit that touches Your Life

When I was a kid, it seemed like every summer Me, My Brother, My Mom, and Mr. Jeff (A guy My Mom was dating at the time) and his kids Alex, Elizabeth, and sometimes Jeffery, would go to a cabin up near a lake called Nocona, which is about a 2 hour drive from Plano. This cabin, aptly named “The Lake House”, was on the east shore of a small lake, which was next door to Lake Nocona, called “Leisure Lake” in a country neighborhood called “Nocona Hills”. Anyway, we had a lot of fun there each summer and after awhile I start making up names for places around “The Lake House”. You see, back then and even today my imagination was quite something. In my mind I would make up whole cities or even metro areas like Christianville. But, the things I named were actually real places around the house. Like for example, since The Lake House was at the east end of the lake, the shore looked like a horseshoe curve that I named “Kids Bend”. I came up with that name because we were kids, and us kids would sit on the dock on the edge of “Kids Bend”. In my mind, “Kids Bend” extended a couple blocks away from the house. I called the hill down the road from the house “Downtown Kids Bend”. There was a small creek running next to the house across from us that was called the Christian River after a long debate between us kids. After the naming, we found a flat piece of wood that wrote the name on. All in all, all of us kids had a great time up there and a great childhood.
Thanks for reading The Christianville Spirit. If you see someone who needs a hug, give them a hug and let them know they’re loved.
